We’re thrilled to share that Asaase Radio Ghana featured Women Leaders in Eye Health in their coverage of Orbis International’s inaugural WLEH Conference in Ghana’s Ashanti Region.
The article highlights how this ground-breaking event brought together female eye health professionals : ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and opticians, from across Ghana under the theme “Mentorship, Breaking Barriers; Building Legacies.”
It also underscores the gender gaps in Ghana’s eye care workforce: while women dominate roles such as ophthalmic nurses and opticians, they remain underrepresented among ophthalmologists and leadership positions. WLEH was described as a “pioneering collaborative initiative,” committed to uplifting women in ophthalmology through leadership, mentorship, and strengthened networks.
