About the New Course
Offered free of charge on Orbis’s Cybersight platform, "Advancing Gender Equity in Global Eye Healthcare" is the first non-clinical course dedicated to gender equity in eye health, in the English language.
Developed through the Women Leaders in Eye Health initiative, the course equips eye health professionals, hospital partners, and organizations with the tools to better understand and address gender-related barriers in eye care.
The course combines global case studies from Asia, Africa, and Latin America with interactive activities, pre- and post-tests, and recommendations for professional practice and institutional planning.
Participants will gain insights into how gender norms, cultural expectations, and systemic barriers impact women’s access to eye health services and leadership opportunities in the sector.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Cybersight certificate, empowering them to take forward inclusive practices that strengthen both eye care delivery and professional equity worldwide.
Integración de la Perspectiva de Género en la Atención de la Salud Ocular
First Non-Clinical Course on Cybersight
Launched in 2023, "Integración de la Perspectiva de Género en la Atención de la Salud Ocular" (Mainstreaming a Gender-Based Approach in Ocular Healthcare) is the first non-clinical course available on Orbis International's Cybersight Platform.
The Spanish-language course was a major milestone in our partner Orbis International's commitment to diversity and inclusion. It was proudly supported by the Alcon Foundation and the Gender Champions initiative.
The program is designed for our hospital partners, aiming to raise awareness among medical and administrative staff about gender concepts, gender relations in public health, and gender implications in ocular health. The content addresses the unique challenges faced by women in eye health in Latin America.
