We are pleased to share that, starting this year, Orbis and Seva are more engaged than ever in the IAPB Gender Equity Working Group (GEWG), strengthening collaboration and shared efforts to advance gender equity across the eye health sector.
Orbis President and CEO Kathleen Sherwin joins eye health partners to advance gender equity at 2030 In Sight Live.
Orbis CEO Kathleen Sherwin has joined the GEWG’s tripartite co-chairmanship alongside The Fred Hollows Foundation and Sightsavers, while WLEH team member Jennifer Tapia Boada is supporting this leadership through a dedicated secretariat role. Colleagues from both Orbis and Seva are also actively contributing to GEWG activities.
Most recently, GEWG also convened a dedicated session and interactive workshop during the InSight Live Conference in Nairobi, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders, particularly from the Africa region, to advance dialogue on gender commitments in eye health and foster cross-sector collaboration.

The group continues to advance key priorities, including the development of the Gender Equity Toolkit and strengthened alignment with global policy efforts, supporting practical guidance and coordinated action across the sector.

For more resources and details about this group, please visit the International Women’s Day blog post from the new co-leads here and review the IAPB GEWG’s toolkit website that was recently updated to support gender training efforts globally.
